CEIMS overview
-
CEIMS provides assistance with China-based document authentication/verification. This ensures that the Chinese students admitted to your programs will be able to perform to your school's standards.
-
CEIMS has operated for the past 6 years as a sub-department of Ameson's ACEIS operation. On behalf of such esteemed schools as the University of Cambridge, University of Bristol, and University of Melbourne, CEIMS has been wholly responsible for authenticating incoming Chinese students' documents and honors of merit.
-
Via our vast network of contacts (elite Chinese schools, administrators, and top-level officals), we cull important news updates about shifts in the Chinese education system that will allow you a better handle on managing your Chinese recruiting objectives.
-
CEIMS members also gain use of our Chinese web portals, newsletter service, and mainstream media contacts. These outlets will allow you to get your message out to hundreds of elite China high schools containing tens of thousands of quality students.
-
Non-ACEIS international universities and organizations must pay a membership fee of USD$260 to use CEIMS services. This includes access to our education news services, dissemination of your school's literature via our web portals, and 10 student documents authenticated per year (each additional document needing inspection costs USD$20).
Headquartered in Shanghai, China, the China Equitable Information Management Service (CEIMS) is a non-governmental, non-profit organization with a core mission of providing a fair, transparent and trustworthy process of authenticating applications submitted by Chinese students to western universities.
Background
For the past 6 years, the University of Cambridge has worked closely with the Ameson Foundation to identify China’s finest high school graduates using the ‘Ameson Chinese Elite Identification Scheme’ (ACEIS). This system has two objectives: to identify elite students, and also verify that the documents and achievements submitted in their applications are authentic.
The screening/verification aspect of ACEIS have proven to be extremely effective. It is the external document verification service recognized by Cambridge University for processing Chinese applications. It is also used at 11 other elite schools including the University of Melbourne, University of Warwick, and University of Bristol. Because of the fantastic response from both students and schools that have used this service, CEIMS is now being offered as a fully independent derivative of ACEIS.
What CEIMS does
CEIMS verifies and screens the authenticity of application documents (which include graduate certificates/diplomas, transcripts, letters of recommendation, student academic ranking data, and all relevant signatures). As well, CEIMS analyzes student achievements and awards to distinguish between genuine achievements and exaggerated ones. Once all aspects of a student’s submission is qualified and verified, it is stamped with a CEIMS seal of authentication.
CEIMS member extras
In addition to the CEIMS authentication service, registered members are also privy to a host of information extras. These include: ...these services help to bridge the gap between western university standards and Chinese cultural and educational policies...
- Complete analyses of China's top high schools
- An overview of China's main academic competitions
- Information about GAOKAO (the exam for entrance into Chinese universities)
- a regularly updated briefing that tracks the (frequent) changes in Chinese educational policies, in addition to case studies of fraudulent activities committed by both Chinese students and schools.
Essentially, these services are designed to help to bridge the gap between western university standards and Chinese cultural and educational policies, in order to provide western admissions officers a coherent understanding of a Chinese applicant's true quality. |
